Frequently asked
What does OutlookDog do?
Open an email and OutlookDog gives you a quick summary, flags whether it looks risky, and can draft a reply for you to review. It works on the message you have open.
Which Outlooks are supported?
Outlook Classic (Windows), New Outlook (Windows), and Outlook on the web, on Microsoft 365 / Exchange mailboxes. See the install page for the 20-second setup.
Is it free?
Yes — the free tier gives you a set number of AI actions per day with no setup. Pro ($9/mo or $90/yr) removes the limit. Bring your own key ($5/mo or $50/yr, with a free trial) lets you use your own AI provider for maximum privacy.
How does "bring your own key" work?
In Settings, choose My own key, pick a provider (Claude, OpenAI, or Gemini), paste your API key, and set a PIN. Your key is encrypted on your device and your email goes straight to your provider — never through OutlookDog. Use the Test connection button to confirm it works.
Is my email private?
We never store your email content. On the managed lane it's processed in transit only; on the BYO lane it never touches our servers at all. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Does OutlookDog send email for me?
No. It only ever drafts a reply for you to review — you always send it yourself.
Troubleshooting
- The dog isn't on my ribbon: re-check the install steps; on Classic Outlook, restart after adding the add-in.
- Sign-in / "couldn't verify" errors: try again, or switch to your own key in Settings.
- "Test connection" fails (BYO): confirm the key is correct, has credit, and matches the selected provider.
- Hit the daily limit: come back tomorrow, go Pro, or add your own key.
How do I remove OutlookDog?
Remove it from your Outlook add-ins list (Get Add-ins → My add-ins → remove). To cancel a paid plan, open the billing portal from Settings.
